After reviewing the best looks from #MBFWM, we went deep into the highlights of the runway.

MARCOS LUENGO (@marcosluengoofficial)

Marcos Luengo

The Asturian designer opened the second day of the MBFWM with a collection designed for the contemporary female silhouette. The proposal for the Spring/Summer 2021 season takes as a reference the Central American artisan heritage. Luengo has maintained the sweetness and romanticism that defines him. The light, airy fabrics so central to his shows conquered the Madrid catwalk once again.

The prints visible on the designer’s pieces refer to the paintings of Guatemalan Alexander Zuleta. In collaboration with the artist, Marcos Luengo modified the prints to incorporate them into patterns and garments, thus preserving the original essence of shapes and colors.

On this occasion, due to the restrictions of the health crisis, the collection was reduced to 32 looks. Although it was not a problem to create a surprising and fresh proposal.

DOMINNICO (@dominnico)

Dominnico Madrid

Domingo Rodríguez founder and creative director of Dominnico extrapolated the current world situation in his new collection. The coronavirus and the Black Lives Matter movement materialized in his new designs for the SS21 season that was presented last Friday at the MBFWM. The Alicante-based designer has become one of the regulars on the Madrid catwalk.

Uhura, the name assigned to the proposal has been taken from the character of the retro-futurist television saga Star Trek, a black lieutenant embodied by Nichelle Nichols. The choice of title is closely related to the character and personality that has defined the steps of the designer. The looks were shown under the representation of a pink galaxy, the brand’s emblematic color.

In addition, Domingo Rodríguez wanted to emphasize the incorporation of new technologies in the world of fashion; for this reason he has collaborated with digital artists such as Cristina Orozco and Eros Giuseppe from Ecce Visual.

44STUDIO (@44studio_official)

Madrid

44Studio’s INTERLUDE collection was presented in the Medialab-Prado of Madrid space on September 11. The label founded by Xavi Garcia and Franx de Cristal closed the day of the Madrid es Moda fair. The designer duo has created a timeless proposal, durable over time and not subject to the fast trend. With a dramatic atmosphere the proposal was presented in two acts as well as the theatrical performances, giving rise to a moment of reflection.

The brand founded in the capital in 2015 exhibited its own vision of the social moment we are living through its looks. Oversized patterns designed to dress the female and male silhouette without distinction. The two-piece suits of modern style diplomatic line and accessories in silver were the great protagonists of 44Stuido. The silver animal print incorporated in various sets of garments surprised those present by its attractive character of rock aesthetics.

Garcia and de Cristal have created a fresh and dynamic imaginary of the sector where the forms and proportions are adjusted in a perfect balance.

ROBBER RODRÍGUEZ (@robber.rodriguez)

MBFW Madrid

Roberto Rodriguez won yesterday the award for the Samsung EGO 2020 platform as best emerging designer. His collection Despierta Despierta (Wake Up), rooted in Madrid’s neighbourhood customs; made with the family’s trousseau, tablecloths, curtains and remnants was chosen by the jury. The unanimous decision was taken not only on the basis of the spectacular nature of their looks and performance, but also because of the personal effort of Rodriguez, who managed to reach the catwalk thanks to the donations he received on a financial and material level.

His technical team composed of the designer and right hand of the winner, Najjat Harb, Casaverde Costura with Margarita, a dressmaker who has made for Rosalía and, Meritxell Martx and Rec4Share in charge of audiovisual production have worked altruistically betting on the talent of the Madrid native. The cheekiness of MSB Mario Milan and Chema Garcia in the parade increased the positive aura that was felt in the IFEMA pavilion.

The Covid-19 does not allow the participation of Robber Rodriguez in another of the catwalks of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week circuit. So we will not be able to see him outside of Spain, but it will be for the moment because this talent is only starting.
