In early March 2020 his death was announced as a result of lymphatic cancer.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of her death, Marina Abramovi\u0107 paid a brief tribute to the artist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B9O0fWzgQ11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>in an Instagram post<\/strong><\/a> that reflected the relationship between the two.\u00a0 <strong>&#8220;It is with great sadness I learned about my friend and former partner Ulay\u2019s death today. He was an exceptional artist and human being, who will be deeply missed.
