{"id":240625,"date":"2021-12-21T14:08:49","date_gmt":"2021-12-21T13:08:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/highxtar.com\/?p=240625"},"modified":"2021-12-21T14:08:49","modified_gmt":"2021-12-21T13:08:49","slug":"lvmh-and-kering-respond-to-peta-accusations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/highxtar.com\/en\/lvmh-and-kering-respond-to-peta-accusations\/","title":{"rendered":"LVMH and Kering respond to PETA accusations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) accused the two largest luxury conglomerates of engaging in animal cruelty at a slaughterhouse in Indonesia.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-240619\" src=\"https:\/\/highxtar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/highxtar-kering.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"705\" srcset=\"https:\/\/highxtar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/highxtar-kering.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/highxtar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/highxtar-kering-300x176.jpg 300w, https:\/\/highxtar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/highxtar-kering-1024x602.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/highxtar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/highxtar-kering-768x451.jpg 768w, https:\/\/highxtar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/highxtar-kering-973x572.jpg 973w, https:\/\/highxtar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/highxtar-kering-508x298.jpg 508w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The findings published by<strong> PETA<\/strong> after the investigation claimed that both <strong>LVMH<\/strong> and <strong>Kering<\/strong> carried out animal cruelty activities during the production of their products. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/highxtar.com\/equitacion-de-alta-costura-con-gucci\/?lang=en\">Gucci<\/a> <\/strong>has been one of the major victims of the complaint, which claims that the maison kills lizards &#8220;in a violent and undeniably cruel manner&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PETA<\/strong> president<strong> Ingrid Newkirk<\/strong> sent a letter to the executives of both conglomerates calling for an end to such practices. <em><strong>&#8220;No handbag, belt or wallet deserves such pain and suffering. Especially when their designers have access to the most advanced and beautiful leathers,&#8221;<\/strong> <\/em><strong>Newkirk<\/strong> says.<\/p>\n<p>For its part, <strong>Kering<\/strong> issued an official statement in which it provided its point of view and confirmed the company&#8217;s commitment to<em><strong> &#8220;respecting the highest standards of animal sustainability and labour conditions in its sourcing of precious skins. Regarding the information about the mistreatment of lizards at a processing facility in Indonesia brought to our attention by PETA; while we have taken these allegations very seriously, there is no evidence that Kering&#8217;s brands are directly or indirectly connected to this facility or these practices.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>While it is true that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lvmh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>LVMH<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0has not been involved in these allegations, the group has sought to comment on the situation, stating that <em><strong>&#8220;LVMH respects all opinions and sensitivities regarding the use of raw materials of animal origin. We support and actively participate in the industry&#8217;s efforts to achieve the best possible practices. Our intention is to offer customers a product made in the most responsible and ethical way possible.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PETA has accused the
