A study conducted by Oregon State University claims that the properties of hemp may be effective against COVID-19 and prevent its infection.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This has been published in the Journal of Natural Products<\/strong> after discovering the usefulness of a chemical extracted from cannabis plants in protecting human cells against the coronavirus.<\/p>\n

These are cannabigerolic acid<\/strong> (CBGA) and cannabidiolic acid<\/strong> (CBDA) found in hemp. Both substances, by binding to the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0virus, are able to prevent infection in humans.<\/p>\n

“Cell entry inhibitors, such as hemp acids, could be used to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection and also to shorten infections by preventing virus particles from infecting human cells,”<\/strong><\/em> says Dr Richard van Breemen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

However, this discovery does not ensure that by smoking cannabis you are safe from infection. The key is to ingest the aforementioned hemp compounds orally, either in pill or liquid form.<\/p>\n
