This January, the DNA of Maison Margiela and Reebok merged once again in the new Classic Leather Tabi D\u00e9cortiqu\u00e9 Low, the low-cut version of the Classic Leather Tabi High launched in June last year. This new collaboration between the French fashion house and the American sportswear brand reinterprets Reebok’s legendary Classic Leather original from 1983 through the couture codes of Maison Margiela. The archetypal Reebok icon has been reinterpreted using Maison Margiela’s ‘d\u00e9cortiqu\u00e9’ technique.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Developed by the creative director of the Parisian firm John Galliano<\/a><\/strong>, d\u00e9cortiqu\u00e9<\/strong><\/em> is a technique used by Maison Margiela<\/strong> based on the deconstruction of a garment or accessory down to its most essential structure. By dispensing with the elements around the architectural framework of the object (i.e. the components that hold it together), its most intimate and essential construction is revealed. In this way, d\u00e9cortiqu\u00e9<\/strong><\/em> is a figurative process that represents the values of authenticity and individualism so characteristic of Maison Margiela<\/strong>. In addition, this technique also nods to one of the house’s codes: the anonymity of lining, the practice of exposing and exposing elements of a shoe, garment or accessory that are normally covered or hidden.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The Classic Leather Tabi D\u00e9cortiqu\u00e9 Low<\/strong> has been designed from the original base and pattern of the iconic Reebok Classic Leather<\/strong>, and has been given Maison Margiela<\/strong>‘s signature split toe Tabi<\/strong> design from 1988. Using the ‘d\u00e9cortiqu\u00e9’<\/strong> <\/em>technique, the leather panels have been cut to reveal the fabric lining of the shoe and create a cage-like shape.<\/p>\n

This low-cut model is available in black, white and red leather. Also available is the ‘Bianchetto’<\/strong> <\/em>version, another signature Maison Margiela<\/strong> technique consisting of a hand-painted white coating on a black leather base that deliberately flakes off with wear.<\/p>\n
