On many occasions we talk about fashion as an art form, but sometimes it is art in its most conventional sense that approaches the world of fashion, and then the result can be even more surprising and evocative. The artist Sarah Sitkin (@sarahsitkin<\/a>)<\/strong> has taken the step of creating a hybrid between sculpture and clothing -which you might never hang in your closet, but certainly have to try once in a lifetime-.<\/p>\n

The American sculptress uses her experience with special effects materials -such as silicone clay, wax, latex or hair- to create hyperrealistic human trunk figures that act as a vest for an immersive and revealing experience.<\/p>\n

“Bodysuits<\/strong><\/em>” is the name of the exhibition at the Superchief Gallery in Los Angeles -which previously hosted two of her exhibitions, “Triflin Matter” and “Untendencies”- and with which she intends to share her vision of the human entity.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur universal detachment with our bodies leads us through a lifetime of serious divides, between fantasy and reality for what our bodies should and could be,<\/em>\u201d Sitkin says. \u201cI do not\u00a0believe the body defines who we are. It\u2019s not really the essence of \u2018us,\u2019 but functions more like a garment than a person.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n
