The latest release from the Night Viels quintet, Vanille Antique<\/em>, joins Casablanca Lily<\/em>, Reine de Nuit<\/em>, Sellier<\/em> and Tobacco Mandarin<\/em> as part of Byredo’s unique Extrait de Parfum series.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Reflecting the morning ceremony of scent application, the Night Veils<\/strong> are designed for the evening ritual. Their application signals the beginning of evening and the descent into unknown adventures. Like flowers that release their most intoxicating scent at twilight, these penetrating perfume concentrates are made from noble raw materials chosen with meticulous care.<\/p>\n

Distilled into a pure essence using time-honoured techniques, a small amount works closer to the skin and radiates through body heat, lingering for many hours. Whether worn for a night out or simply to bed, Night<\/strong> Veils<\/strong> offers deep olfactory stimulation, inspiring and reflecting a natural world of imagination, memory and desire.<\/p>\n

In a new departure, Byredo<\/strong> presents its first titular fragrance centred on perfumery’s rarest raw material. Derived from the French, for ‘Antique Vanilla’<\/strong>, Ben Gorham<\/strong><\/a> imagined a smoky vanilla bean loaded with history and character. With his usual drive and determination to move away from the convention of the medium, the result is transformative with scents that crystallise into something unexpected, less syrupy and more nuanced.<\/p>\n

The only orchid that bears fruit, harvested through a long and delicate process, Vanille Antique<\/strong> refers to the complexities of its origin. A unique ingredient imbued with hundreds of aromatic possibilities. With a scent of remote climes, the expected sweetness of vanilla is pierced by earthy and dark textures, a warm blend of cashmere wood, cisme and musk that come together to form a heady ambrosia.<\/p>\n

Distilled from a fleeting moment of inflorescence, this is a heady bouquet for the subversive adventurer. Foggily intriguing, it descends into the depths of the night and encounters risky encounters. All in search of this seductive scent trail.<\/p>\n

“I think there is something in the night. It’s a different world of possibilities. A different version of who we are. There’s a whole part of nature that lives at night. How can we be removed from that? I know I have a completely different mindset at nightfall. It’s very distinctive emotionally. It’s almost the beginning of another life and I wanted to do something to mark the beginning of night.
