Cultural diversity and environmental challenges are the main themes of the 176 activities programmed for S\u00f3nar 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This Thursday sees the start of S\u00f3nar 2022<\/strong>, the 29th International Festival of Music, Creativity and Technology<\/strong>, which this year draws on new sounds from the five continents with a decidedly festive and inspiring spirit and an outstanding presence of local talent.<\/p>\n

A renewed S\u00f3nar+D<\/strong> will be extended to all the festival’s venues with new stages and formats. In this way, S\u00f3nar Barcelona<\/strong> returns to its usual format in 2022. It will be held over three days (16, 17 and 18 June<\/strong>) at Fira Montju\u00efc<\/strong> and two nights (17 and 18 June<\/strong>) at Fira Gran V\u00eda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The festival will present 117 shows and will combine world premieres, exclusive concerts, eagerly awaited stage returns and a broad representation of the most relevant global, national and local talent of the moment.<\/p>\n

S\u00f3nar 2022<\/strong> will present major international audiovisual shows, such as the legendary British duo The Chemical Brothers<\/strong> presenting live their latest work ‘No Geography’<\/strong><\/em> in a new immersive audiovisual show; the Berlin trio Moderat<\/strong> who, after announcing their retirement from the stage, return to the stage with their new album ‘MORE-D4TA’<\/strong><\/em>; the French epic electronic duo The Blaze<\/strong> with unreleased music and a new staging that promises to be spectacular; and Bonobo<\/strong>, presenting his latest album ‘Fragments’<\/strong><\/em>. In addition, Arca<\/strong>, one of the most daring and transgressive figures of our time, will make his debut at S\u00f3nar by Night<\/strong> with a new show in which he will present his last five albums live.<\/p>\n

The biggest names in Spanish music today will also be at S\u00f3nar 2022<\/strong>. C.<\/strong> Tangana<\/strong> returns to the festival already a global star, with an extraordinary show packed with all his hits and his recent album, ‘El Madrile\u00f1o<\/strong><\/em>‘. For his part, Nathy Peluso<\/strong> also returns to S\u00f3nar<\/strong>, this time with his acclaimed ‘Calambre’<\/strong><\/em>, to demonstrate why he continues to reign with authority in the field of Latin and urban sounds. Others like Morad<\/strong>, Simona<\/strong> or Ms Nina<\/strong> emerge as the sound of an increasingly near future.<\/p>\n

Exclusive shows specially prepared for S\u00f3nar<\/strong><\/h5>\n

S\u00f3nar<\/strong> will present world premieres of previously unreleased pieces specially created for the festival. Ni\u00f1o de Elche + Ylia + Banda “La Valenciana”: ‘Concert de m\u00fasica festera<\/strong>‘ will reinterpret the music of popular festivals with more than 50 musicians from a genuine Valencian band, which will cross the boundaries between rave music, bakala sound and flamenco tradition. Maria Arnal and Marcel Bag\u00e9s<\/strong> present Hiperutopia<\/strong>, a new manifestation of their album ‘Clamor’<\/strong><\/em> in which they will be accompanied by the 36 voices of the Cor de Noies de l’orfei Catal\u00e0<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Samantha Hudson<\/strong> will debut at the festival to premiere ‘Liquidaci\u00f3n Total Por Cierre’<\/strong><\/em>, an ambitious rave performance of her album, designed especially for S\u00f3nar<\/strong> and featuring a radical aesthetic that breaks with anything seen from her to date. ‘Uncompressed’<\/strong><\/em>, presented by Patreon<\/strong><\/a>, will bring together musicians, creators and synth experts Hainbach<\/strong>, Look Mum No Computer<\/strong> and Cuckoo<\/strong> in a unique performance that promises to be radical, playful and evocative.<\/p>\n

Finally, the duo Tarta<\/strong> Relena<\/strong>, who will collaborate for the first time on stage with a 16-voice choir.<\/p>\n

The world’s largest dance floor<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Naturally, S\u00f3nar<\/strong> will prove why it is the world’s biggest dancefloor, keeping the party going until dawn with some of the world’s biggest clubbing stars. Folamour<\/strong>‘s ‘Power to the<\/strong> PPL A\/V’<\/strong> show and Reinier Zonneveld<\/strong>‘s acid live set will get the crowd dancing as much as the techno and house DJ sets of top stars such as Charlotte<\/strong> de Witte<\/strong>, Eric Prydz<\/strong>, The Blessed Madonna<\/strong>, Anfisa Letyago<\/strong>, Richie Hawtin<\/strong>, ANNA<\/strong> and Agoria<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Global and diverse club music is being rebuilt by artists from five continents. The biggest example is the 6-hour circular surround sound session on Saturday night at SonarCar by Kabza De Small x DJ Maphorisa<\/strong> (Scorpion<\/strong> Kings<\/strong>), the kings of South Africa’s new benchmark genre: pop house. Also on the bill will be the queen of this sound, Kamo<\/strong> Mphela<\/strong>, famous in Johannesburg and across the country for her energetic videos dancing all over the place.<\/p>\n

SonarHall<\/strong> will host serpentwithfeet<\/strong>‘s vindication of black and gay love; as well as Amnesia<\/strong> Scanner<\/strong>‘s audiovisual apocalyptic show; the concert by British pop-experimental producer Sega Bodega<\/strong> and the birth of the collaboration Pedro<\/strong> Vian & Mana<\/strong>. Transgressive vocalist Lyra Pramuk<\/strong> will present her show ‘Echoluminescence’<\/strong><\/em> at SonarComplex<\/strong>; Polo & Pan<\/strong> will make SonarVillage<\/strong> dance with their theatrical show; British duo Overmono<\/strong>\u00a0will close SonarPark by DICE<\/strong> on Saturday with their long-awaited and revolutionary live show; and Lafawndah<\/strong> will unleash the full power of her voice on Thursday.<\/p>\n
