Jenna Ortega’s performance in ‘Wednesday’ won over many fans of the Netflix series, and she reveals that she herself made some changes to the character.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The actress says she became very protective of her character Wednesday Addams, to the point where she would sometimes disagree with the writers and come up with her own version.<\/p>\n

Ortega talked about this on an episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert<\/a> podcast. “I don’t think I’ve ever had to put my foot down on a set as much as I did on Wednesday, because it’s so easy to fall into that category, especially with this kind of series,” he commented. “Everything she does, everything she had to play didn’t make sense for her character at all. Being in a love triangle didn’t make sense. There was a line about a dress she had to wear to a school dance and she was saying, ‘Oh my God, I love it! I can’t believe what I said. I literally hate myself.’ And I had to tell her, ‘No, you can’t.'”<\/p>\n

He explained, “There were times on set when I even became unprofessional, in the sense that I started changing lines. The script supervisor thought I was going to do something and then I would have to sit down with the writers and they would say, ‘Wait, what happened to the scene?’ And I had to explain to them why I couldn’t do certain things. I became very, very protective of her.”<\/p>\n

The ‘Wednesday’ actress also revealed that the iconic dance scene was originally going to be a flashmob, but she thought it wouldn’t be very in character to do that, and ended up turning it around.<\/p>\n
