{"id":369810,"date":"2023-05-30T11:00:53","date_gmt":"2023-05-30T09:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/highxtar.com\/?p=369810"},"modified":"2023-05-30T11:00:54","modified_gmt":"2023-05-30T09:00:54","slug":"twitter-could-be-banned-in-europe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/highxtar.com\/en\/twitter-could-be-banned-in-europe\/","title":{"rendered":"Twitter could be banned in Europe\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recently, Elon Musk has decided to withdraw Twitter from the voluntary EU Code of Practice against disinformation.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The French Minister for Digital Affairs, Jean-No\u00ebl Barrot, wanted to emphasize through the social network in question the importance of following regulations to avoid dangerous fake news on social networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Barrot told France Info: &#8220;Disinformation is one of the most serious threats to our democracies. If Twitter repeatedly breaches our rules, it will be banned from entering the EU.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>European Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton also weighed in on the social network: &#8220;Twitter leaves EU voluntary Code of Practice against disinformation. But the obligations remain. You can run but you can&#8217;t hide.&#8221; Twitter points to a cessation of its activity in Europe if it does not change its decision regarding disinformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Twitter leaves EU voluntary Code of Practice against disinformation.<br><br>But obligations remain. The agreement is voluntary, but social networks must comply with it if they want to continue operating in European territory.
