California startup Alef Aeronautics backed by SpaceX has received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to test its vehicle on the road and in the air.<\/h2>\n\n\n

The all-electric flying car is priced at $300,000 and is already accepting pre-orders. SpaceX<\/a><\/strong>-backed startup Alef Aeronautics<\/strong> becomes the first company in history authorized to conduct such tests. It has been granted a special official airworthiness certificate for the Model A by the FAA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CEO Jim Dukhovny said, “It brings us closer to being able to offer people a faster, more environmentally friendly way to get around, saving individuals and businesses hours every week. This is one small step for airplanes, one giant leap for cars.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FAA restrictions have limited where and for what purpose the vehicle is allowed to fly. The company plans for the car to be street-capable and to take off vertically, so that it can fit into urban infrastructure for driving and parking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The car is expected to be able to carry up to two people, with a range of 200 miles on the road and 110 miles in flight. So far, 440 people have already paid a deposit to be the first to own the flying vehicle. Last year, CEO Dukhovny told the media that the launch of these flying cars would come in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
