Luar<\/strong>‘s SS24<\/strong> runway show closed New York Fashion Week<\/strong>, leaving the audience with a narrative around the streets of El Hoyo<\/strong>, a region of the Dominican Republic, where life unfolds in dualities between spiritual salvation and hedonistic pleasure; between religion and Caribbean party culture, including scenes of reflection on our own redemption. A place where the creative director first experienced that revelation of which, like his brand, resides at the intersection of dichotomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The underlying message of the collection then suggests that salvation can be found within ourselves, and not in external stimuli or figures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FROM CHURCH TO CLUB<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The collection suspended between symbolism woven into sturdy collars that allude to the weight of personal burdens or crackling leathers that reflect the walls of El Hoyo<\/strong>, Luar echoed a ‘streetwear but elegant’ range from last season, but now giving it extra notes of drama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between modest garments and provocative pieces with oversized shoulder pads, the collection features slate gray suits, ruffled bandeau tops or tight-fitting dresses fastened with silver logo brooches. Hypnotic garments interwoven in the same time-honored imagery with shirts and ties tucked into sweat shorts with furry hems, micro mini skirts or hot pants of the same material, often embellished with Ana bags in hand, shiny Amazonian bracelets or crystal clutches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although if there was any piece that captured all eyes those were the exaggerated 80’s techno style sunglasses <\/strong>attached to the garments, as well as presented independently: a design that was repeated in several looks with biker pants or black skirts to the floor that closed the sacred ritual of Raul Lopez in style.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
