Coinciding with Paris Fashion Week and the 50th anniversary of the birth of hip-hop, Paco Rabanne and Spotify are teaming up for a unique project.<\/h2>\n\n\n

Club 57<\/strong> celebrates the intrinsic union between music and fashion through a series of activations and an exclusive event that will tell a little-known story – despite its relevance to the evolution of French hip-hop – and set the pace for the French capital on this important date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paco Rabanne<\/strong> was not only the first designer to choose a black woman as a catwalk model, he was also a pioneer in introducing music into his shows. In the 1970s he founded Black Sugar<\/strong>, an art centre and workshop for hip-hop, break and smurf musicians and dancers. Located at 57 Boulevard de La Villette<\/strong>, it was the first of its kind in France<\/strong> and hosted over 350 different artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The designer discovered this movement in New York<\/strong>, specifically in the Central Park <\/strong>area where dancers gathered to perform. His admiration for hip-hop led him to open Club 57 <\/strong>as the first institutional hip-hop club in France<\/strong>, and its doors were open for five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, the fashion house is teaming up with Spotify<\/a><\/strong><\/strong> in a unique project that aims to keep the designer’s legacy alive. In it, Julien Dossena<\/a><\/strong>, Rabanne<\/strong>‘s current creative director, will take control and share his inspirations, mixing French rap with some of the most international classics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
