To celebrate the birth of its cultural milestone, the footwear brand has prepared a very special documentary and its most colourful collection yet.<\/h2>\n\n\n

From the moment it was launched in 1973, the Timberland<\/strong> boot became a hallmark of innovation, durability and craftsmanship, taking the tree logo to every corner of the globe. The footwear industry was revolutionised when the Abington Shoe Company<\/strong> decided to apply injection moulding technology to create a fully waterproof leather work boot. Nobody trusted this approach, as it was feared that the leather would be ruined, and criticism began to rain down on Nathan Swartz<\/strong>, a veteran shoemaker, and his son Sidney<\/strong>. What the world didn’t know was that they were witnessing the birth of one of the most iconic silhouettes of all time. Such was its success that in 1978 the company adopted the name Timberland<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

This exciting story is brought back to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the yellow boot through a special documentary directed by New Zealand filmmaker Tom Gould<\/strong>. ‘This is Not a Boot: The Story of an Icon’ <\/em><\/strong>is told from the voices of different generations and recounts the boot’s humble beginnings as a waterproof leather work boot to its bold adoption into the New York hip-hop scene<\/a><\/strong>. It features cultural luminaries such as Jeff<\/strong> Stapie,<\/strong> ASAP Ferg<\/strong>, Rakim<\/strong>, Ronnie Fieg<\/strong>, Veneda Carter<\/strong>, Fat Joe<\/strong>, Angie Martinez<\/strong> and many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, a colourful Timberland\u00ae 50th Edition Premium 6-Inch Boot <\/strong>collection has been designed for all Timberland <\/strong>lovers, inviting them to have fun this season.
