Among the models included in the transaction are the exclusive Dior x Air Jordan 1 <\/strong>and the colourways ‘Bred’<\/strong>, ‘Chicago’ <\/strong>and ‘Royal’<\/strong>, among others. The suspicion of fraud began when the buyer began to find certain defects on the surface of the sneakers and decided to go to a specialised shop in Melbourne<\/strong> to check their authenticity. The surprise came when the employee confirmed that he had indeed been the victim of a scam and warned him that the teenager who sold them to him is “a fraudster and a blacklisted scammer”<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the seller’s father offering compensation amounting to almost $7,000, the case was taken to the Victorian Civil and Administrative<\/strong> Tribunal<\/strong> (VCAT<\/a><\/strong>), where it was determined that the seller was a minor at the time of the exchange and is now responsible for providing compensation under the legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“If the agreement had been entered into when the seller was 18 years old, the outcome would have been different,”<\/em><\/strong> said VCAT<\/strong> member Katherine Metcalf<\/strong> in dismissing the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
