Everyone has a unique hair type, influenced by factors such as porosity or scalp health. Knowing their specific characteristics will undoubtedly help you choose the best products and treatments, whether it’s unruly curls, soft waves, straight locks or the sometimes intractable craziness of an afro mane.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hair texture is one of the most notable and varied characteristics among people. It is generally classified into four main categories: straight (type 1), wavy (type 2), curly (type 3) and afro (type 4). Each type has unique attributes that determine how it behaves and reacts to different products and styles: “Straight hair is naturally straight and has no waves or curls, it tends to be very smooth and reflect more shine, but it is also more prone to grease quickly because the sebum from the scalp is more easily distributed along the strands” – defines Maria Garcia, <\/strong>Dalire<\/strong><\/a>‘s customer experience manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your hair falls without any curve or wave from the roots to the ends, you certainly have straight hair, but if you have it even if it is “S” type, we would talk about wavy hair, which can be with soft or defined waves, much more if it frizzes easily. Curly hair would be hair with defined curls and more prone to frizz, whether loose loops or tighter coils without the need for styling tools. To analyse the fourth type, the afro, just look at its zigzag shape and tight curls, undoubtedly the most fragile of all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Care tips for different hair types<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Straight: Keep cleansing in balance to avoid greasing too quickly by opting for gentle shampoos. Use light conditioners that don’t weigh hair down and apply products that add volume if your straight hair tends to be fine and flat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wavy: Moisturise regularly with conditioners and masks to better define waves and control frizz. Use products designed to enhance waves and prevent frizz. Also avoid excessive heat and heavy styling products that can cause waves to fall out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curly: Avoid brushing hair when it is dry. Instead, detangle with fingers or a wide-tooth comb when wet. Consider air or diffuser drying techniques to maintain the shape and integrity of your curls. Moisturising is key. Invest in deep conditioners, curl creams and gels for added definition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afro: Prioritise hydration and nourishment by using oils and butters to lock in moisture and protect the hair. Adopt styling techniques that minimise manipulation and stress on the hair, such as protective styles. Be gentle when detangling to avoid breakage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
