Four years have passed since the plane crash that claimed Kobe Bryant’s life and yet the war with his parents continues. The athlete’s parents, Pamela and Joe Bryant, auctioned off the first championship ring their son gave them for a mere $30,000. The ring sold for $927,000 – \u20ac860,487.75 – making it the most expensive in history, surpassing that of Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell, whose championship ring was auctioned in 2021 for $705,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A highly questionable action on the part of Bryant’s parents that only fuels the already irreparable conflict between the family. As far as is known, it is his widow, Vanessa Bryant, who manages the entire fortune left by the athlete as a legacy, estimated at some 600 million dollars, according to Forbes<\/strong><\/a>. She has no relationship with his in-laws, who opposed the relationship from the beginning. In fact, they were not even present at his wedding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a ring that Bryant gave to his own father as a token of love and devotion, as the latter had also been an NBA player, but had never won the ultimate championship. The jewellery is made of 14-carat gold, incorporating 40 diamonds and the number 8 that the player wore in his early years with the Lakers.
