Natasha Zinko has always had a very catastrophic way of channeling her universe. Perhaps because she comes from Ukraine, a country in the midst of war, or perhaps because we live in a rather unstable current reality that has served designers like her -the example of Demna’s case- to create dystopian worlds far from the usual glamour and positivism. In the end it is a catastrophism seen from a survival instinct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Resort 2025 collection, Zinko reaffirms this, channeling the currents of postmodern sci-fi cynicism that we can feel in films like “Blade Runner” or “Alien”. The designer’s languid beings wear their own – and special – space suit, which is created, for instance, from a trench coat with straps that are secured to the torso by hardware and a diver-like hood. Their limbs often appear strapped down, heads covered by a diver-like hood, as if from an imminent attack they need to protect themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cargo beige and denim stand out against a proposal that uses only black and white. There is a belligerent tone, not because of the need to attack but the constant search for survival in a hostile world, where anything can explode at any time. In the midst of that haze, harshness and uncertainty that proliferates in the lives of Zinko’s beings, underwear becomes an indispensable element. The familiar underpants of the NZ ORIGINALS<\/strong><\/a> line come to life as bags, hats or sewn onto jackets in unexpected ways; they are even worn as pants themselves, reflecting Zinko’s belief that underwear is a human being’s true best friend, both in na\u00efve optimism and anxiety-laden futurism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zinko, despite drawing somewhat apocalyptic scenarios, taking as a starting point the reflection on the current state of the world, in the background remains positive, showing once again in his Resort 2025 collection a functionalism in his garments that reflects the extraordinary adaptability of human beings even in the most adverse circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
