At Shanghai Fashion Week, SHUSHU\/TONG<\/strong><\/a> has captured attention with its Spring\/Summer 2025 collection, which fuses the uniqueness of femininity with striking contemporary sensuality. Entitled \u2018The Pleasure of Rejection\u2019, this collection is inspired by the French psychological drama The Piano Teacher and its complex protagonist, Erika Kohut. \u2018We were deeply fascinated by the film’s exploration of an unusual intimate relationship,\u2019 shared Liushu Lei, known as Shushu, one of the brand’s founders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collection reflects an emotional tone of restraint and introspection, incorporating details that reveal a more mature sensibility than in previous seasons. \u2018Erika Kohut is such a complex female character: sensitive and conflicted, but also capable of expressing her most extreme desires,\u2019 adds Shushu. This duality manifests itself in delicate, textured silhouettes, layered structures and vibrant touches of colour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The designers wanted to further explore the diversity of femininity and female experiences, playing with the concepts of pleasure and rejection from Erika’s perspective. \u2018In her mind, the lines between attraction and rejection blur, creating a chaotic unity that offers immense dramatic tension,\u2019 says Shushu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it wasn’t all seriousness. SHUSHU\/TONG maintains a playful, feminine mood, designed for a \u2018passionate, romantic and playful\u2019 girl. \u2018Ties are a key element, they have always been central to our brand DNA,\u2019 she explains. This year, the colour palette feels especially rich, with striking combinations including mints, burgundies, khakis, yellows and pinks. Bright polka dot prints and iris motifs add freshness, while delicate textures such as lace reflect Erika’s vulnerability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the collection introduces casual basics, such as sweatshirts and jackets, to offer a more everyday aesthetic. \u2018I wanted to create something I could wear personally,\u2019 says Shushu, showing her connection to each garment. Accessories also shine, with an ongoing collaboration with jewellery designer YVMIN, incorporating ceramic elements that reflect the themes of restraint, sensitivity and fragility. \u2018The delicate quality of the ceramics perfectly complements the narrative of the collection,\u2019 he adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
