Los Angeles<\/strong>-based men’s fashion retailer UNION<\/strong> has joined forces with the renowned footwear company founded by Johann Adam<\/strong> Birkenstock<\/strong> to create a hybrid clog that blends the codes of Boston<\/strong> and Zurich<\/strong> styles. Made from natural leather that wraps the upper layer of its structure, the Bimshire<\/strong> features classic Birkenstock<\/strong> buckles made with a specialised textile-touch treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also feature an anatomical footbed covered in orange-dyed leather and a canvas panel trimmed and finished with a classic suede round toe. They come in desert shades of grey, taupe and sandy pink, and feature a special inscription of the name of the island of Barbados<\/strong> as a tribute to Chris Gibbs<\/strong>‘ (owner of Union LA<\/strong>) roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gibbs<\/strong>, who felt like an outcast in a predominantly white city, began experimenting with style in unorthodox ways, drawing inspiration from both his Canadian and West Indian heritage. After his stint in high school and the New York<\/strong> club scene in the 1990s, he incorporates his \u2018Birks\u2019<\/em> into any look, faithfully proclaiming them his \u2018wardrobe staple\u2019 to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bimshire<\/strong> clog by Birkenstock<\/strong> in collaboration with Union LA <\/strong>will <\/strong>be launched worldwide today, November 7<\/strong>, via 1774.com<\/a><\/strong>, in Birkenstock<\/strong> stores and at selected retailers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
