After closing a chapter with his own label in March and presenting his last runway show in June, Dries Van Noten<\/strong><\/a> has decided to take a radical turn in his approach. The Belgian designer is entering the world of art with Common Ground, an exhibition that explores the concept of \u2018home\u2019 through the visions of six contemporary artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curated by Brian Boa, founder of Trading Places in Los Angeles, Common Ground opens today, 9 November, at The Little House. The exhibition brings together works by EFE, Martine Syms, Mark Lecky, Lloyd Foster, Walid Labri and Hassan Rahim, who approach the idea of home from an emotional, physical and cultural perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018The exhibition invites the viewer to explore home not just as a physical place, but as a feeling, an emotional refuge, and an extension of our personal identity,\u2019 says the designer. The exhibition will be open at The Little House Gallery until mid-December, offering a unique experience to rethink the idea of home in all its forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EFE and Rahim present sculptures that leave no one indifferent. \u2018Prick\u2019 and \u201cFastline\u201d, respectively, are works that challenge the conventional perception of the house and its limits. Meanwhile, Syms, Labri and Lecky delve into the realm of video art, offering pieces that explore the representation of the intimate and the collective. The show closes with a two-sided painting by Lloyd Foster entitled \u2018Blue\u2019, which depicts the notion of the home as sanctuary, but in a fragile and ephemeral light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through these six contributions, Common Ground seeks to open a dialogue on the \u2018dynamics of domestic life\u2019, inviting us to reflect on how the spaces in which we live shape our identity, our relationships and, of course, our creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
