London’s Natural History Museum was the venue chosen by Pirelli to unveil its long-awaited 2025 calendar. Entitled Refresh and Reveal, this 51st edition of the iconic almanac departs from tradition to pay homage to a modern and eclectic vision of beauty, captured through the lens of photographer Ethan James Green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shot between May and June this year in Miami’s vibrant Virginia Key Beach Park and a local studio, the calendar features 24 images, alternating between black and white portraits and colour photographs. The protagonists are 12 leading figures from different worlds: actors, artists, singers and models who, each in their own way, have reshaped the standards of beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They include actress Hunter Schafer, presenter Padma Lakshmi, actor Vincent Cassel, singer Elodie, actress Hoyeon, artist Martine Gutierrez, illustrator Connie Fleming, model Jenny Shimizu, actor John Boyega and actresses Simone Ashley and Jodie Turner-Smith. In addition, Ethan James Green includes himself in the calendar, something that Prince Gyasi (2024) and Bryan Adams (2022) have previously done, cementing his personal connection to the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Green’s proposal for this edition seeks to go beyond convention. \u2018Our general idea of beauty has changed a lot, it has expanded\u2019, says the photographer, \u201cThis calendar celebrates a new vision of beauty, reflecting the current moment, with the freedom to go back to the origins of Pirelli and show the body in new ways, in new narratives\u201d. Under the concept of Refresh and Reveal, beauty is presented not as an unattainable ideal, but as a constant transformation, a space where the body and identity are redefined and celebrated without restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tonne Goodman, the former fashion editor of Vogue, was in charge of fashion direction and creative consultancy, and described the shoot as \u2018absolutely fabulous\u2019. The designer highlighted the unique approach of Green, who combines her elegant eye with a deep understanding of queer culture. \u2018The breadth of her experience and her personality are reflected in every image. She is bold, sensitive and unafraid to be who she is. The elegance with which he handles light and direction in the studio makes the end result truly remarkable,\u2019 he commented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
