Founded in December 2021, Espiritu Club began as a project focused on giving a second life to forgotten objects and garments, with a firm commitment to sustainability. Initially, the brand selected vintage pieces, but over time evolved towards creating new clothes from textile waste. This shift was symbolised in the debut collection \u2018Metamorphosis\u2019 launched in October 2022, marking the move from curation to upcycling design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The materials used by Espiritu Club come mostly from the textile centre of Gamarra in Lima, Peru, the founder’s hometown, while production is carried out in Barcelona by seamstress Esperanza, a Colombian migrant who brings her craft and passion to the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development of the projects aims to deconstruct the human being through spiritual introspection and interpersonal relationships, leading to the creation of communities. That is why \u2018Espiral Espiritu\u2019 was created, the first presentation of the brand in Barcelona. A fashion show was held at \u2018Foc\u2019 (video attached) and a two-day Pop Up at \u2018Ssuave3000\u2019 in April 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Espiral Esp\u00edritu\u2019 was born in connection with the brand identity session held in January 2023 at the \u201cMorro Solar\u201d in Lima, Peru. The symbol of the spiral was chosen as the central axis of the presentation. The spiral represents the cycle of life, constant change, transformation and development in both the physical and spiritual realm. Espiritu Club, like the cycle represented by the spiral, uses disused materials that the textile industry considers waste to give them a new life in a creative way. Furthermore, they related the etymology of \u2018ES\u2019 – which comes from \u2018to be, to exist\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OFICIOS\u00a0Collection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new collection, CRAFTS, is divided into six chapters that pay tribute to crafts that have been relegated to oblivion in the age of mass production. To date, five chapters have been launched that highlight traditional trades: Spinners, Blacksmiths, Alfaferas, Carpenters and Herbalists, and will soon be completed with the chapter dedicated to Shiringueros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of OFICIOS is not to vindicate, but to honour the dedication, tools and garments that characterise artisans. Inspired by their meticulous work and their connection with the raw material, Esp\u00edritu Club seeks to raise awareness of the importance of consuming consciously and valuing what lasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collection stems from a profound critique of today’s world, where most objects are mass-produced, using petroleum-derived plastic, with a devastating environmental impact. Espiritu Club invites us to question whether we really need so many objects, especially those that are produced in unfair and dehumanising conditions. \u2018We want to raise awareness so that people understand the impact of their consumption choices. We value what has a story, what lasts over time, what is created with passion,\u2019 says the Espiritu Club team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choosing the street for the parade has to do with connecting with their open space called Sitio, where their studio is also located. Where they offer consumer alternatives, where they try to raise awareness in a sustainable way about the appreciation for what is worked with passion, the importance of ecological and artisan practices, creative projects of migrants and support for emerging projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
