The wait is almost over. On July 3<\/strong>, the exclusive Dior<\/strong> capsule collection designed by Lewis Hamilton<\/strong> will arrive – the first after the announcement of his collaboration with the French Maison<\/em> last summer – inspired by the athlete’s personal journey through Africa<\/strong>. His stops in Morocco<\/strong>, Senegal<\/strong>, Mozambique<\/strong>, Benin<\/strong> and Madagascar<\/strong> helped him to soak up cultures, colours, textures and stories that he now reinterprets in a futuristic key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018I heard so many incredible stories that inspired me to imagine the future of black culture. The way we tell stories through art, science and philosophy is really special. Seeing these ideas come to life through colour and movement inspired me,\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>says Hamilton<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this way, the collection – designed in direct conversation with the Dior<\/strong> ateliers – excellently blends Parisian elegance with a conscious and purposeful approach. As the creators themselves define it, it is a celebration of excellence, innovation and performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leopard tweed is the star print on a shirt, relaxed cut shorts, a hooded jacket and a bouson. A direct nod to the House<\/a><\/strong>‘s heritage, but revisited from a wilder, more tribal and contemporary point of view: \u2018where Afrofuturism and Dior historicism end up meeting\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Hamilton<\/strong>‘s eclectic style, roomy tailoring is juxtaposed with work boots and a bucket hat. For him, fashion is \u2018a personal expression and acceptance of the different parts of yourself.
