The news comes after his Spring\/Summer 2026 show in Paris, which opened with a direct criticism of U.S. President Donald Trump\u2019s anti-immigration stance. In the presentation, models wearing white uniforms stood in line with their heads lowered<\/strong>, referencing the reported conditions in immigration detention centres. That same show coincided with a collaboration with the Human Rights Campaign and Tinder, reviving graphic T-shirts with the message How we love is who we are<\/strong><\/em>, previously shown in the Autumn\/Winter 2025 collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this alliance, Willy Chavarr\u00eda<\/a> joins figures such as Jesse Tyler Ferguson<\/strong> and Padma Lakshmi <\/strong>in supporting the rights of immigrant and LGBTQIA+ communities, causes the ACLU has promoted for decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cArt, music, and fashion can have tremendous impact on how we realize and promote social justice and human dignity. I\u2019m happy to further utilize my own platform for the empowerment of others,\u201d <\/strong>Chavarr\u00eda told WWD<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January, Chavarr\u00eda used his Paris debut to reinforce his political stance. During the show, a recording of Episcopal Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde\u2019s sermon, delivered at Donald Trump\u2019s inauguration, was played. In the recording, she called on the president to show mercy towards queer and immigrant people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Months later, upon joining the ACLU\u2019s Creatives for Freedom campaign, Chavarr\u00eda said that now, more than ever, actions and statements must serve to defend human dignity and human rights.
