The French group acquired a stake in the brand following the appointment of the designer at Louis Vuitton in 1997. Nearly three decades later, Marc Jacobs could change hands for a figure close to <strong>one billion dollars<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the potential buyers are three acquisition-focused groups: <strong><em>Authentic Brands<\/em><\/strong> (owner of Reebok), <strong><em>WHP Global<\/em><\/strong> (owner of Vera Wang), and <strong><em>Bluestar Alliance<\/em><\/strong> (which recently added Off-White and Palm Angels to its portfolio). Talks are reportedly advanced, and the deal could be finalised soon, according to sources close to the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The move comes amid <strong>a slowdown in the luxury sector<\/strong>, which has directly affected LVMH\u2019s results. The fashion and leather goods division, the group\u2019s most profitable segment, recorded a 9% drop in sales in the last quarter. In this context, LVMH has started reviewing its portfolio and divesting some contemporary brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cWe will not keep brands if we believe they are not a good fit or if we are not the right operator to manage them,\u201d <\/strong>said LVMH\u2019s Chief Financial Officer, C\u00e9cile Cabanis, during last week\u2019s earnings call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If completed, this would be the <strong>third brand to leave the group in less than a year<\/strong>. In September 2025, LVMH sold Off-White to Bluestar Alliance. In January, it did the same with its stake in the eponymous Stella McCartney brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The departure of Marc Jacobs would mark the end of a long relationship between the designer and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lvmh.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the conglomerate<\/a>.
