Other contenders such as WHP Global are said to have been in the running, but ABG is already moving pieces to appoint a new CEO and take over the brand\u2019s creative and commercial direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For ABG, which generates&nbsp;<strong>$38 billion in global retail sales<\/strong>, the move would be a serious&nbsp;<em>power play<\/em>: a genuine acquisition beyond the licensing model that dominates its portfolio, and a strategic way to strengthen its partnership with Coty in the fragrance business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following its recent majority stake acquisition in Guess, Jamie Salter seems to be rewriting the rulebook:&nbsp;<strong>fewer licences, more ownership<\/strong>. This shift could also benefit from the expertise of industrial partners like&nbsp;<strong>G-III Apparel<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 current owner of Donna Karan and former producer of Calvin Klein \u2014 to steer Marc Jacobs\u2019 day-to-day production and distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In that light, the&nbsp;<strong>Marc Jacobs universe could be reborn<\/strong>&nbsp;under a more flexible, liberated model \u2014 freed from LVMH\u2019s corporate machinery. His 40th anniversary in fashion \u2014 marked by a viral runway show and a Pharrell-starring campaign \u2014 proved that his relationship with Arnault remains strong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The issue doesn\u2019t seem to be creative, but strategic.&nbsp;<strong>The brand is no longer essential within LVMH\u2019s ecosystem<\/strong>: it doesn\u2019t appear in the group\u2019s quarterly reports \u2014 which, in Arnault\u2019s language, means it\u2019s no longer core.
