Ten years after the birth of her iconic Faceless<\/em>, Coco D\u00e1vez comes home. Madrid-born artist Valeria Palmeiro<\/strong> is opening a new creative studio in Carabanchel. The refurbished warehouse will serve as the centre of all her projects and the space where she will showcase the most personal exhibition of her career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent years, Coco has lived through an intense international period. Her works have travelled to Miami, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, London and Paris<\/strong>. That constant movement distanced her from Madrid and from direct contact with her audience. \u201cI started to miss exhibiting in my city and everything that goes into a show,\u201d <\/em>she explains. This return marks a reconnection with her roots and with the people who have supported her from the beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Faceless<\/em> exhibition is being presented this week to the press and to her close circle. From next weekend and until March, the public will be able to visit it through private viewings. Coco has selected 36 portraits<\/strong> with strong personal significance. Although she considered creating new works, she ultimately decided to bring together pieces that were scattered around the world. \u201cI wanted to bring them back home and let each one tell the story of the moment it was painted,\u201d <\/em>she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During installation, a small mystery<\/strong> even emerged, two works were missing. One has now appeared in London and will arrive at the beginning of December. The other remains unaccounted for. The exhibition may change slightly if a piece is sold and the new owner wishes to take it away, but the intention is to keep the full selection in the studio until the show closes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Studio Transformed into a Creative Universe<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The new space, redesigned by architecture studio Burr, is another key part of this return. After months of searching and a year of renovation, the warehouse has become a \u201ctailor-made\u201d environment. It is functional for creating, yet also designed to host projects, gatherings and activities. \u201cI want anyone who walks through the door to step straight into my universe,\u201d <\/em>says the artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this new chapter, Coco will revive her podcast Participantes para un Delirio<\/strong><\/em>. She also hopes to record episodes with a live audience. In addition, she will bring back her workshops and organise breakfasts with guided tours, group and individual mentoring sessions, and encounters with other artists. The studio, she explains, was created with one clear intention: to make things happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Visit the Exhibition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Tickets will be available on cocodavez.com<\/strong>.<\/a> There will be two visits per month depending on demand, always in the morning and in small groups<\/strong>. Each session will include breakfast in the studio and a guided tour led by Coco D\u00e1vez herself. During the visit, the artist will share the origins of the works, her creative process, sketches, and several Faceless<\/em> pieces that have never been shown before.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
