The North Face Japan<\/a><\/strong> unveils one of its most special collaborations to date by joining forces with SASHIKO GALS<\/strong>, a collective of artisans from \u014ctsuchi in Iwate Prefecture. The result is a capsule collection that transforms the brand\u2019s technical DNA into true pieces of wearable art. Japanese tradition, contemporary design and sustainability come together in this project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of the collection is the Nuptse Hanten Sashiko Jacket<\/strong>. It is a new interpretation of the iconic 1992 Nuptse, reimagined through the silhouette of the hanten<\/strong>, the traditional Japanese winter coat. The fusion creates a relaxed, zip-free garment that still delivers the high level of thermal performance that defines the Nuptse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ultimate expression of innovation comes in the BP Nuptse Hanten<\/strong>, crafted from Brewed Protein™<\/strong>. This petroleum-free fibre has been developed by biotech company Spiber. The material reinforces the collection\u2019s commitment to a more responsible future, where technology and sustainability move forward together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sashiko: every piece is unique<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Each garment has been hand-stitched using the sashiko<\/strong> technique, a traditional Japanese method of textile reinforcement. This makes every piece one of a kind. The visible stitches are not hidden; instead, they are shown as \u201cscars\u201d that reflect the time and craftsmanship of each artisan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside the jackets, the collection includes BP Nuptse Down Sashiko booties<\/strong> and heavyweight cotton T-shirts<\/strong>. All the pieces feature the distinctive sashiko stitching as a unifying detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exclusive launch in Harajuku<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The capsule will receive a hyper-limited release<\/strong> and will be available exclusively at The North Face ALTER<\/strong> in Harajuku, Tokyo, from 27 December 2025<\/strong>. The flagship piece, the BP Nuptse Hanten, will retail for \u00a5550,000 JPY<\/strong>, further underlining its status as a collector\u2019s item.<\/p>\n\n\n
