The dark side of beauty<\/em>.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Disney+ adds a new sci-fi and body horror title to its catalogue with The Beauty<\/em>. Created by Ryan Murphy, the series premieres today, 23 January, and features Bella Hadid as one of the most prominent names in the cast, alongside Ashton Kutcher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The production is based on the comics by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. The story is set in a society obsessed with beauty, where a virus promises to improve the physical appearance of those who contract it<\/strong>. However, what seems like the perfect solution hides side effects that lead to a dark narrative shaped by power, business and control over the body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hadid plays Ruby, a supermodel who becomes the centre of the conflict. During a fashion show in Paris, in the middle of Fashion Week, she suffers a breakdown and begins a violent escape through the city. From that point on, an investigation starts to uncover the origin of the virus and who is really behind it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
