Photographed by Aidan Zamiri, Martin Scorsese<\/a>, Marc Jacobs<\/a> <\/strong>and John Cale<\/strong> are the unexpected stars of the new cover of Charli XCX<\/a>.<\/strong> The filmmaker, the designer, and the musician appear together in the image accompanying Music, Fashion, Film<\/em>,<\/strong> the British artist\u2019s seventh studio album, turning the project\u2019s title into a visual statement that\u2019s as simple as it is effective.<\/p>\n\n

The choice of this trio goes far beyond aesthetics. Each represents one of the disciplines named in the album title and helps make sense of the references that have shaped Charli XCX\u2019s recent evolution. After the cultural phenomenon of brat<\/em>, the artist will return on July 24<\/strong> with an 11-track project running just over 30 minutes, from which she has already previewed the singles ‘SS26<\/strong>‘ and ‘Rock Music<\/strong>‘. <\/p>\n\n

Marc Jacobs and the language of fashion<\/h3>\n\n

Of the three names on the cover, Marc Jacobs is probably the one who best connects with one of Charli XCX\u2019s recurring obsessions: fashion understood as culture.<\/strong> The American designer has been setting the industry\u2019s pace for decades, turning trends, pop references, and generational shifts into collections that end up defining an era. That\u2019s why his presence on Music, Fashion, Film<\/em> fits naturally within the artist\u2019s creative universe. <\/p>\n\n

What\u2019s more, his selection comes at a time when Charli is also using fashion as a narrative tool. Just listen to SS26<\/strong><\/em>, one of the album previews, where she borrows the language of fashion weeks to reflect on the obsession with image, trends, and spectacle. In that sense, Jacobs appears not only as a go-to designer, but as the representative of a discipline that runs through much of the discourse of this new era. <\/p>\n\n
