A.P.C. launches a skincare line inspired by… Nietzsche?

All six products are made in France with a minimalist design and are composed of at least 98% ingredients of natural origin.

A.P.C. launches a skincare line inspired by… Nietzsche?

A.P.C., the French fashion brand best known for its basics, has entered the skincare universe with six philosophy-inspired products.

The collection includes shower gel, body lotion, hand cream, hand soap, lip balm and cologne. On the back of each product is a label bearing a quote from Friedrich Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra: «I am a body from one side to the other, nothing more: and the soul is only a word for something in the body».

Another non-existentialist element that unites the products in this collection is orange blossom. An ingredient that is particularly nostalgic for A.P.C. founder Jean Touitou, as orange blossom flourishes in his native Tunisia. It is therefore logical that this ingredient is at the heart of A.P.C.’s first skincare line.

«In fashion as in the cosmetics industry, the balance between too much and too little is hard to find. It’s a real job. These six products are the best possible. They are meant to make you feel good and comfortable and help you have a good day,» says Jean Touitou, founder of the brand.

Available online and in-store, this self-care collection is not A.P.C.’s first foray into the world of beauty. In fact, in 2009, the brand launched a limited edition fragrance, Sustain, formulated by perfumer Haley Alexander Van Oosten. In 2014, 300 bottles of the perfume were re-released.
