Casablanca and New Balance come together again to design a new model of the XC-72 silhouette. During the creative process, they were inspired by the sports cars of Monaco.
With two new colourways, Casablanca and New Balance welcome two new sneakers. To elevate the XC-72 silhouette, both brands took inspiration from the luxury cars that drive around the city of Monaco. The “Grand Prix” theme is repeated again after having served as a common thread in the Autumn/Winter 2021 collection.
Thus, we find two pairs of exclusive trainers. On the one hand, the first design combines the colours orange and green throughout the silhouette while adding details in grey and white. In it, we can find references to previous releases from both brands.
On the other hand, the second pair is characterised by a black rubber sole, a reference to car tyres. To match, a combination of red and yellow colours takes over the upper of the shoes.
On the creative process, Charaf Tajer and Stevie Grimes said: “Since we started working on the collaboration we called it a ‘sports car for your feet’ because it evokes that feeling of when you first saw a luxury car as a child, you knew it was a car… but it was different to anything you’d seen before. It’s a sensation, a wonderful feeling, designed to perform, to be special.”
The new Casablanca x New Balance XC-72 will be released on 27 August.
