On Wednesday, YouTube announced that its “medical disinformation policies” will now include all content that opposes “safe and effective vaccines, endorsed by local health authorities and the World Health Organisation (WHO)”.
The days of anti-vaccine and anti-vaccine profiles are numbered on YouTube. The platform‘s disinformation policy will extend to posts that “contradict local health authority or WHO guidance on vaccine safety, efficacy and ingredients”.
This decision will result in the immediate removal of any videos that promote the idea that vaccines are unnecessary or ineffective; that they are made up of harmful ingredients and/or contain tracking devices. On the other hand, content about vaccine policies, new trials and vaccine successes or failures, as well as related testimonials, will be allowed.
