Days after unveiling Supreme’s spring/summer ’22 collection and its craziest accessories collection, including caravans and kayaks, the New York streetwear brand has announced its first big news of 2022, since being acquired by VF Corp in a $2.1 billion deal. What’s that? The appointment of its first creative director. Who has been chosen? Read on.
The man chosen to fill this ostentatious and coveted position is Atlanta-born, Jamaican-raised American designer Tremaine Emory. But Tremaine is no stranger to the industry, since in addition to having his own brand, Denim Tears, and after working as a collaborator for Kanye West and his Yeezy brand or for Frank Ocean and his fanzine Boys don’t cry or even for Marc Jacobs for 9 years, Emory’s time has come. In addition to all this, he has also worked as a creative consultant for Tom Sachs.
According to what we have been able to find out, the designer is already working side by side with the founder of Supreme, James Jebbia, and offering his vision for the American label. This first appointment is part of VF Corp’s plans to expand the brand. We’ll see what they surprise us with.
