Xiaomi has announced its move into the world of AR with the new Xiaomi Wireless AR Smart Glass Discovery Edition.

The company has presented its new augmented reality glasses at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and they have already become one of the most interesting proposals in the sector. At the moment it is a proof of concept, so they will not be on sale, but they reveal what we will be able to see soon in this type of devices.

The glasses that merge the real and virtual worlds are wireless and weigh only 126 grams. They connect to the mobile via Bluetooth, without the need for the immediate vicinity of a PC, and their latency is 3 milliseconds, well below normal.

One of the highlights of this new device lies in its “retina” level displays, with MicroOLED panels that reach a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, and provide greater outdoor visibility or a more isolated experience depending on the type of elements with which we are interacting. Gesture control with spatial sensing allows the device’s actions to be controlled with just the movement of a hand.

Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, has shared the following video presentation.
