Micro-concealing: Hailey Bieber’s favourite make-up technique

A few months ago, Mary Phillips, the make-up artist of Hailey Bieber and the KarJenners clan, was a hit on TikTok with a video in which she explained what “Under Contouring” is. Now, she’s back in the spotlight with the most beloved make-up technique among celebrities: Micro-concealing.

The idea of micro-concealing is to use product only where it is needed and just the right amount with the help of a brush and your fingers. The result is a natural look, where make-up is virtually unnoticeable. The days of hiding breakouts and acne marks by resorting to the old-fashioned way of covering the entire face with foundation are over.

In a video, Phillips says: “If a client has blemishes or textured skin, I like to apply a small brush. Micro-ocultation works for acne scars. It’s a technique to minimise them, but not to cover them up.” The make-up expert also advises applying light touches of concealer to wrinkles in the mouth area and pimples on the chin.
