The brand announced the collaboration as “a fusion of the creative DNA of Paco Rabanne and Jean Paul Gaultier”.
Julien Dossena, current creative director of Paco Rabanne for the past decade, has been chosen to design Jean Paul Gaultier’s next Haute Couture collection to be presented in July 2023.
The fashion house had put aside ready-to-wear collections in 2015, and in a quest to reintroduce it, Antoine Gagey launched a marine-inspired collection in 2021 alongside emerging designers including Spain’s Palomo Spain, Ottolinger, Alan Crocetti, Marvin M’Toumo and Lecourt Mansion. In 2020, Jean Paul Gaultier also said goodbye to Haute Couture at the Théâtre du Châtelet, but now he is back again with a similar strategy to reinterpret it by inviting creatives from other firms to experiment with its codes. Julien Dossena joins the strategy after the collaborations of Chitose Abe, Glenn Martens, Olivier Rousteing and Haider Ackermann.
The news was announced via a joint Instagram post from the guest designer and the fashion house. “We are pleased to announce that Julien Dossena of Paco Rabanne will be the guest designer for the next Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture collection in July 2023. A fusion of the creative DNA of Jean Paul Gaultier and Paco Rabanne – welcome to the Family, dear Julien Dossena!” they wrote under the photo.
We can’t wait to see what Dossena brings us for this upcoming Fall/Winter 2023/2024 collection, which is sure to be historic. Don’t miss a thing on Highxtar.
