The legendary adidas Rivalry trainer is back for you to include in your everyday outfits. Inspired by 80s basketball footwear, the model is reinvented with a minimalist design for this season.
The design became a streetwear icon in the 1980s after conquering the basketball courts. Back then, sponsorships with NBA players generated a lot of money, so it was very important to get the best contracts with the right celebrities. So adidas decided to make NBA classic Patrick Ewing the first Rivalry ambassador, customising the silhouette in the colours of the New York Knicks.
Now, the German brand’s classic is updated with the essential requirements of today’s streetwear culture: comfort and style. Combining the retro eighties aesthetic with the updated adidas codes, the Rivalry is the sneaker to own this season. Along with the Superstar, Stan Smith or Gazelle, the Rivalry is one of the most sought-after silhouettes among sneakerheads looking for versatility and quality.
The retro-style shoe mixes different materials: leather, suede and synthetic fabric for the ultimate finish. The toe cap features classic perforations to better regulate the temperature, and as decoration, the brand has emblazoned its adidas 3-Stripes logo on the sides. Underfoot, the stitched cupsole combines soft cushioning and a grippy rubber outsole with a pattern that provides traction and comfort with every step.
This season the Rivalry comes in both high top and low top versions in different colourways. From the total white version, to the white model with red details or the model with navy blue details, black with white motifs, and the tricolour in a combination of grey, dark blue and green, among many others. The Rivalry is constantly being updated with different tones, so you’re sure to find some that fit your codes.
