The youngest Missoni will present the first collection of her new brand Maccapani at Milan Fashion Week.
The Missoni executive and former creative director, granddaughter of Rosita and Ottavio Missoni, has been putting her long-standing fashion industry knowledge to work on her own fashion label. Maccapani will combine cutting-edge Italian knitwear with a feminist post-streetwear philosophy.
“In principle, it is genderless. Everyone is invited to try it,” Missoni explains about Maccapani. “That’s why we have tested it on both a woman and a man. However, unlike many contemporary casuals that derive from menswear, Maccapani is also based on a fundamentally feminine point of view. And it is very much built around a woman’s shape.”
The company is produced in collaboration with Gilmar, owner and producer of Italian fashion brand Iceberg, and has been in development since 2021. It will present two collections a year; the first presentation will take place in Milan during men’s fashion week next June.
Maccapani will sell its products directly to the consumer on its own website and through multi-brand stores such as Nordstrom and Browns. He also has a collaboration planned with Farfetch for the September collection. “Everything with a reason. Everything with effortless expression. Everything with honest simplicity” is written on one of the images on the Instagram profile that the executive has created for the brand, which also includes on its website a countdown to June 16, its launch date.
