Chanel’s new viral T-shirt is part of its recently unveiled Formula 1-inspired Cruise 2023 collection. Some influencers wore the tight-fitting embroidered T-shirts at the Monaco Grand Prix in May, which helped popularize them even more.
The drama with this garment came when people discovered its astronomical price: 4,160 euros in its normal version. The beaded version costs around 6,000 euros.
The exorbitant figures have not stopped the demand, as it usually happens when something reaches virality, but most of the potential buyers have been very puzzled. One Twitter user wrote: “I don’t watch F1, and I haven’t liked Chanel for years, but this shirt says something to me.” Another responded in a comment on an Instagram post, “If you don’t like F1 or Chanel and the shirt says something to you, just tell it to shut the f*** up.”
Currently, Chanel’s F1 shirt is still available in some of its stores, for those willing to spend €5,000.
