Despite not being on the list of possible candidates, the artist takes over from Rihanna and will perform at halftime of the 2024 Super Bowl (the most watched music event on US television).
The most mediatic sporting event of the year is getting closer and closer, so it’s time to find out which artist will perform at the Super Bowl 2024. The NFL (National Football League) has just confirmed who will perform at half-time. The most watched event on television in the world will be held on 11 February 2024, and Usher will be the chosen one.
“It’s the dream of a lifetime. I’m finally going to sing at the Super Bowl. I can’t wait to put on a show the likes of which the world has never seen before,” said the rap star. His presence on the show has left thousands of fans of the event – not all of them in agreement with the choice – open-mouthed, as his name was not on the list of possible candidates to perform.
With less than five months to go until the long-awaited finale, no details have yet emerged about what to expect at the 44-year-old R&B artist’s next show. Just next year, the singer will be celebrating 30 years since his recording debut – his first album, which bears his own name, Usher, was released in 1994 – and he will be celebrating in style at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Usher filmed five videos with archive footage to announce the performance. In the first one, Kim Kardashian is in charge of telling Usher the surprise. Kim is not the only one chosen to announce the news. The dynamic is repeated in four videos with other NFL stars, uploaded on the social networks of the next head of the Super Bowl.
