In Desigual ‘s universe, identity is communicated through colors and graphics, and no one understands this better than María Escoté. Her unique vision has converged with Desigual’s perspective in a collection that redefines sustainable and responsible fashion, without sacrificing an ounce of style.
From the heart of this collaboration comes a sincere testimony from María Escoté: “If there is something that identifies our community, it is identity in a chromatic and graphic language. That’s what makes me most excited, going out on the street and seeing people wearing our garments. Many of those times that person wears a total look and it is not something that surprises me because, when it comes to designing, I work like that, so my clients and customers understand perfectly the concept of the garment or look that I am selling”.
From this shared perspective, Desigual and María Escoté have joined forces to create a collection of mostly sustainable garments and accessories, the result of more responsible processes. Here, color is the key. Red, purple and fluorescent green intertwine with solid blacks and denim blues in a symphony of vibrant hues.
The prints become visual storytellers with stripes, thermal vision effects and zooms on printed four-color prints. A collage of cat images, one of the most daring and freaky prints, adds a touch of eccentricity to the collection. A unisex sweatshirt and a gathered sweater feature these cat motifs that are becoming, season after season, real treasures for fans of this collaboration. In the campaign, they merge with jeans, skirt and bag in denim patch, reviving the Y2K aesthetic in an amazing way. There’s an asymmetrical mini dress with panels of black stripes on fluor colors and a tight-fitting ribbed sweater with corset trompe l’oeil. Coordinating with a leather-effect pleated mini skirt and a reversible unisex bomber jacket demonstrates the versatility and boldness of the proposal. María Escoté achieves the challenge of turning sweatshirts into iconic pieces.
The images immortalized by Txema Yeste translate rave aesthetics into elevated and purely fashionable looks. While club kids dressed for excess, an it-girl like María Escoté knows how to reinterpret those keys from a contemporary perspective. For example, an asymmetrical dress in ruffled stretch fabric is paired with a limited edition premium leather bag and finished off with an oversized unisex hoodie, creating a stunning visual harmony.
The result is a testament to the power of a well-crafted and well-developed collection, which has all the makings of a top seller this season. Each garment in the María Escoté x Desigual collection tells a story of identity, color and graphics, revealing what it means to be conscious and fashionable in the 21st century.
