With New York’s famous Grand Central Oyster Bar in the background, Tommy Hilfiger shares with us his memories of the Big Apple, reinterpreting them through his unmistakable American style.
Considering that the Puma Mostro show was the hype of the season, Tommy Hilfiger had a hard time making an impact at New York Fashion Week. But knowing how he knows his way around the industry and staying true to his DNA, he has declared his love for the city that saw him establish himself as one of the stalwarts of American fashion in a polished form.
The fusion between classic and contemporary is evident in each piece of the collection that arrives in the “See Noy, Buy Now” format. Sporty details added to their designs, give new life to classic 90’s garments that arrive in new textures and materials. Women’s coats adopt a tailored style in camel wool, with plaid prints and tweeds in earthy tones, while knitwear and dress polos are crafted in cashmere. The garment designs take inspiration from seasons when TOMMY HILFIGER softened the codes of American preppy style through looser-fitting pants, relaxed button-down shirts and boxy coats. Tommy’s iconic blazer is reinvented in shades of red, white and blue, bringing a modern take on the brand’s signature DNA. Each garment reflects a modern reinterpretation of preppy American style, with a focus on comfort and contemporary elegance.
At a time of change not only for the industry but also for the brand, the profile of the guests attending the show was striking. With a much younger front row than in other seasons, Tommy Hilfiger welcomed with open arms the new generations of his family. Paloma Elsesser, star of TOMMY HILFIGER’s FW23 campaign, was one of the models on the runway, with her brother Sage Elsesser sitting in the front row next to GloRilla, Central Cee and Nayeon, pop culture stars who have also starred in recent campaigns for the brand, and who are part of the new, fresher and cooler direction that Hilfiger is taking.
We also saw Nicole Wallace, Sofia Richie, Mia Regan, Junho Lee, Damson Idris, Nicole Warne, Sonam Kapoor and Jon Batiste, who even closed the show with a microphone in hand with one of his hits.
The show, called ‘A New York Moment’, was a celebration of New York preppy style, reinterpreted for the modern woman and man with an extra dose of personality and vitality. Tommy Hilfiger continues for another season to set the standard for American fashion for generations to come, inspiring its fans to express themselves with authenticity and style.
