For SS24, sacai has once again collaborated with Carhartt WIP to create a capsule collection that fuses its own design codes with the streetwear label’s functional sensibility.
The 18-piece collection deconstructs and reimagines a range of work-inspired items as unique hybrid silhouettes. Models such as the Reversible Duck Coat combine two iconic Carhartt WIP styles – the iconic Chore Coat and the Siberian Parka – while the Suiting Bonding Dress takes inspiration from Bib Overall design, juxtaposing tough, functional elements with the flowing lines of a pleated skirt.
The collection also fuses fabrics and details characteristic of both brands. Carhartt WIP’s iconic Dearborn Canvas fabric is combined with sacai’s wool-blend suit fabric, resulting in garments that can be worn inside out, while subtle elements such as triple stitching, piping and pocket detailing are present throughout the garment.
The campaign features Detroit ghettotech trio HiTech and musician and model Soo Joo Park, known for her ethereal dream pop sounds. Soo Joo Park is styled by Karl Templer, while the images were shot by Stas Komarovski.
sacai x Carhartt WIP will launch on 22 February in select shops worldwide and will also be available in the sacai and Carhartt WIP online shops.
The collection debuted on sacai’s spring-summer 2024 runway.
