Jennie, the K-pop superstar of the group BLACKPINK, is at the top of her game and brands know it. From being on the front row of Jacquemus’ 15th anniversary fashion show, to collaborating with Gentle Monster, to being the face of Calvin Klein’s Spring 24 campaign, to posing for Chanel and Heron Preston, Jennie hasn’t stopped in the last few years. Her latest step into the fashion world is with adidas Orginals. The sports brand has presented the singer as the star of its latest campaign in collaboration with Clot: the perfect intersection of East and West.
Edison Chen, mind at the helm of high street brand Clot, has redesigned the iconic adidas Originals Gazelle silhouette with a textile twist. The reissued jute model maintains a natural tone for a neutral and timeless look. The three-stripes, usually made of leather, are now made with handcrafted white beads. Reinforcing this point, the stitching is wider and the overall body is stripped of much structure. The front is in suede in the same tone, with rope laces and a CLOT logo on the heel, also in suede.
Following that mix of eastern and western, the Gazelle by Clot ditches the typical rubber sole for something more interesting. Now, the lower silhouette takes on the braided and stitched sole of an espadrille for a new look that’s perfect for summer. All of this sits on a gum base and an earthy palette is maintained in this section. The only accent is an adidas Blue Bird blue insole decorated with collaborative branding.
The new adidas Gazelle trainers by Clot will be on sale in selected shops and on the adidas app from 14 June.
