The musical artists who will be the soundtrack of the summer

With the arrival of summer, the music industry heats up with a stellar line-up of artists that promise to be the soundtrack to our sunniest days and longest nights. HIGHXTAR. brings you the must-have names on your summer playlist, from pop icons to pioneers of electronic music, R&B and rap.

Charli XCX

The queen of experimental pop is back with a bang this summer. Charli XCX has released her sixth studio album ‘Brat’. The album oscillates between extremes from one song to the next, a hyper-pop rollercoaster of post-Saturn-return, early-thirties anxieties and It-girl bravado. This album is destined to be the most listened to album of the summer and we shouldn’t be surprised if some more remixes of the album come out. Also, on July 12th Charli XCX will be landing in Ibiza with Boiler Room and their PARTYGIRL party, specifically at Amnesia in the Club Room, along with Shygirl, Romy, Kelly Lee Owens while Taylah Elaine, Call Super and KETTAMA.

Arón Piper

When a person as media-conscious as actor and singer Aron Piper releases a song called ‘Invisibilidad’, the first thing that comes to mind is that he talks about his relationship with fame, but nothing like that. The release, which would be the first preview of his upcoming album, shows Aron’s more intimate and sincere side. This track is just the beginning of what looks to be an exciting musical career, in which Aron Piper shows himself without masks. With ‘Invisibilidad’ the expectations for his next album are growing, and although it is not planned to be released this summer, the artist is sure to release a few previews that will become a hit.

Peggy Gou

Peggy Gou released her debut album “I Hear you” earlier this month. The ten-track album is the culmination of years of work by the Korean-born artist. Revered as an underground icon and global sensation, Peggy has remained steadfast in her vision to become one of the world’s most sought-after electronic music artists and DJs. With previous singles such as “(It Goes Like) Nanana” and her collaboration with Lenny Kravitz “I Believe in Love Again,” the LP boldly reclaims her voice through the kaleidoscopic lens of 90s house music. Get ready to lose yourself in his sets that will have you dancing until dawn this summer.

Sabrina Carpenter

There is no doubt that 2024 has a star: Sabrina Carpenter. In recent months, the young artist has experienced a remarkable rise in her career. With her growing popularity, it is no wonder that Carpenter is emerging as one of the most listened to artists of this summer. The American artist conquered the music industry with ‘Espresso’ and ‘Please Please Please’. Carpenter has become the first female artist to reach No. 1 and No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200 in the same week. In addition, Sabrina has become the first solo artist, and only the second artist – next to The Beatles – to have two of her songs in the top 3 of the Hot 100 without anyone in between.

Dellafuente

Dellafuente has released his new album entitled “Torii Yama”, a production that continues to consolidate his position as one of the most prominent figures of the urban genre in our country. The album is a work rich in nuances and emotions, which addresses themes such as love and personal growth. Collaborations with artists such as Judeline and AMORE add a special value to several of the tracks, elevating the listening experience to another level. In addition, the singer from Granada has become the first Spanish independent artist to sell out his concert at the Santiago Bernabéu on 15 November.

Karol G

Karol G is not only emerging as one of the artists of the summer, but also continues her meteoric rise in music thanks to “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido”. This is the singer’s new single after “Contigo”, the collaboration with Tiësto that she released in February. This track comes at a crucial moment in her “Mañana Será Bonito” world tour, where she has been selling out major cities around the world, reaffirming her status as one of the most influential artists in the urban genre. In addition, Karol G is nominated for six Premios Juventud, underlining her relevance in today’s music industry.

Kaytranada

Released in June 2024, Timeless is a work that stands out for its ability to fuse diverse musical genres with unparalleled mastery. Known for his distinctive style that blends elements of house, funk, R&B, and hip-hop, Kaytranada, whose real name is Louis Kevin Celestin, has used this album to explore new sonic textures and deliver a listening experience that reflects both his artistic evolution and his commitment to experimentation. Collaborations with artists such as Anderson .Paak, SZA, and Vince Staples bring another vision to the album. As festival and concert season approaches, Kaytranada is ready to take his new material to stages around the world.

Ayra Starr

Ayra Starr has emerged as one of the most promising and revolutionary artists on the contemporary scene. She is arguably the living representative of the Z generation. The artist has broken records during her brief musical career, being able to combine traditional African sounds with the most contemporary R&B. Her album The Year I Turned 21 reflects how she sees herself today, leaving adolescence behind. With her unique blend of Afrobeats, R&B and pop, the young Nigerian is breaking new ground in a male-dominated West African scene. Haven’t you heard her album yet?

Why is the collaboration between Charli XCX and LORDE so important?
