Have you ever wondered which cosmetics contribute to a healthier sport?
The skin’s needs are constantly changing, and one of the most important factors contributing to these changes is physical exercise. Depending on your fitness routine, it may be advisable to adopt certain practices and include different products in your skincare programme.
As Daniel Jiménez, cosmetologist, technical director of Skin Generics and CEO of BeLab Services, explains, “when you do sport you are exposed to a series of changes in cell metabolism that require extra care. Outdoor sports, for example, can involve prolonged exposure to agents such as solar radiation or pollution, and this directly influences the appearance of free radicals that can accelerate skin ageing.”
Moreover, exertion, both aerobic and anaerobic, “induces internal oxidation processes that can interfere with tissue ageing, as they require increased cardiac pumping,” adds the expert.
The secret to a flawless complexion while exercising is to follow an inflammatory diet, low in sugars and carbohydrates and rich in protein and lots of vegetables. This will prevent cellular inflammation and regenerate the tissues. And, obviously, complement this care with cosmetics that include sun protection and ingredients such as “valuable antioxidants such as vitamins C and E; cyca or madecassoside or niacinamide. And at night it is essential to add regenerating active ingredients such as peptides or retinol”.
Finally, Daniel recommends “keeping skin well hydrated throughout the day through a routine rich in ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, which will help it to be well balanced and retain moisture for longer”.
