On this occasion, the artist was photographed at a place she had a special bond with, a quiet ranch in Malibu, and fell in love with its tranquil and simplistic atmosphere after spending time there in 2020.

‘Being up there has saved me many times. It’s like you’re in a different time, my version of the world stops and my mind can rest for a moment,’ said Ama. Being in the mountains with breathtaking views, living simply and exercising with the horses meant she could just exist. ‘If you relax completely, you soon recognise the sound of the environment talking around you. You become part of the conversation, part of the landscape, part of the ecosystem in all its complexity and vastness. As I said before, it’s magical.

When looking for inspiration for her music, she didn’t have to look far. Ama said he wrote his last album while visiting the ranch and that his song Tokyo Cowboy was heavily influenced by the tranquil atmosphere there. I’m wearing them on the ranch right now, climbing these hills, but I’m about to go back to the city and start my day and I don’t feel any need to change.’
