Lupita Nyong’o has officially been named Chanel’s new ambassador, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Chanel welcomes Lupita Nyong’o as its latest ambassadress

The iconic Kenyan actress, producer and author dazzled on the recent Spring/Summer 2025 runway during Paris Fashion Week, reaffirming her bond with the maison. With a love affair that includes multiple looks from the house and a spectacular couture gown at the Academy Museum gala, Lupita has always been a Chanel style icon.

Her first parade as an ambassador was not long in coming, and following the announcement, Nyong’o launched into the season with her trademark charisma. Winner of an Oscar for her unforgettable performance in 12 Years a Slave, Nyong’o’s track record includes a SAG, a Critics’ Choice, a Spirit Award and an NAACP Image Award, cementing her as an unstoppable force in Hollywood.

This fall, Lupita also launched her podcast Mind Your Own, where she explores the rich cultural narrative of the African diaspora. And the wait for her return to the theatre is real: in 2025 she will play Viola in Twelfth Night, alongside an all-star cast that includes Peter Dinklage, Sandra Oh and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Her talent continues to be acclaimed, and we recently saw her in the A Quiet Place spin-off, A Quiet Place: Day One. She is also known for her role as Nakia in the Black Panther universe. Not to mention that in 2020, she lent her voice to her first children’s book, Sulwe, in Netflix’s Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices, which earned her an Emmy.

The owners of Chanel and the heiress of L’Oréal invest in The Row.
